Put a Healthy Diet on Your
To-Do List as Way to Motivate Yourself
Want to make eating a healthy diet more of a priority in your life? Put eating a healthy diet on your to-do list as
a way to motivate yourself to make healthier food choices. To make it less obvious, buy some stickers of fruits and
vegetables, or other symbols of health, and put one at the top of each page on your to-do lists. That way, every
time you look at the list you’ll remember to make eating healthy a priority but no one else needs to know what the
sticker means. Put one at the top of the grocery list as a way to remind yourself to buy healthy food at the
grocery store like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and other healthy things rather than lots of fatty
prepared foods.
Most people look at their daily to-do lists many times during the day, so the sticker will be a constant reminder
that can motivate you to eat a healthy diet. Heading out to lunch with the gang from the office or for a lunch
meeting? Glance at your daily to-do list and order a healthy soup and salad lunch instead of a fat laden fried
entrée. It can be hard to always make healthy food choices, especially when it’s been a long day and you want some
fast, easy, comfort food but in the long run you will feel better if you take the time to have a healthy meal.
Eating healthy food is a great way to stay energized when you have a long, busy day.
Many people don’t make eating a healthy diet a priority until they have a health crisis or are severely overweight,
and then it can be difficult to stay motivated to make healthy food choices. Create a new relationship with food by
choosing a healthy diet that will nourish your body rather than choosing a diet that tastes good but is full of
fried, high calorie, and high fat food that can clog arteries, lead to weight gain, and can even contribute to
chronic conditions like diabetes. Adults also need to make eating a healthy diet a priority when they have
children.
Children learn from their parents, and it’s important to teach children to make healthy food choices so that they
don’t become obese and so that they learn how to eat healthy for life. Make time for family activities like going
to the park or going for a walk or bike ride instead of sitting in front of the TV in the evening and encourage
kids to go out and play after school instead of playing video games. Pack their school lunches instead of having
them buy lunch at school and send them to school with a packed lunch consisting of healthy fruits and vegetables,
soups, organic peanut butter sandwiches, cheese and crackers, or other healthy foods that will give them real
energy instead of sugary snacks that will cause them to crash in the middle of the morning or afternoon.
There are lots of ways to make eating a healthy diet a priority, but putting a reminder to eat a healthy diet on
your daily to-do list is a sure-fire way self-motivation tool to make appropriate, healthy food choices
everyday.
After awhile, it will become a habit to always make healthy food choices for you and your family and you will have
no trouble living a healthy lifestyle. Use an electronic organizer or an email calendar to keep track of your daily
schedule and lists? Enter a repeating reminder that will pop up everyday to remind you that your health, and eating
healthy, should be a daily priority.
